NaNoWriMo: Update 2

egggggh!  This writing lark is hard.  All you writer types make it sound so easy peesy but I swear you must sign some contract when you start as authors saying you won't tell anyone honestly how difficult it is.  If I'm honest work is getting really busy.  I'm basically doing 9 to 10 hours a day at the moment and on top of trying to keep my reading and reviewing up to date for the blog and working all the time means the writing is already behind.  I also think that I was really fighting against the situation I'd put my characters in so it was a battle against myself.  It started out as a Supernatural Paranormal type of thing and much against some advice I've changed it and removed all that stuff and just focus on the characters and the story I really want to tell.

As many of you know; apart from my love of books my heart belongs to music and namely rock music.  I'd always played around with the idea of the story having that as a back drop but honestly: after reading so many really kick ass books like that from Rockoholic by C.J.Skuse and Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway I was a teeny bit afraid at mine being either really crap or end up like a pale imitation of these really good books.

I've thrown caution to the wind and am just going to write what I love and see where it goes.  Also I want to thank all you lovely followers and twitters once again for the support and advice as I go along.  Plus I want to make a shout out to Carly on Writing from the Tub who's updates I love because she's posting her writing playlist as she goes along.

Something I may do when I next update but for now I'll just post one song that's been on my playlist since the start.

on the plus side: since cutting out the paranormal angle i've hit over 20,000 words as of last night!

  2. Haha, I was just having a read of this and saw a shout out to me! Awesome! Thanks hun :D. I'm glad you're just throwing caution to the wind and writing the story you want to write, I think it sounds great - definitely need more books with music as a backdrop. Keep going, we're getting towards the final straight now!xxx
