Event Post: Poltergeeks Launch in London

One crisp Autumn evening in London I was invited to attend a little shindig in honour of the publication of Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings who was visiting the UK specially for the event.  Thanks to the lovely ladies and gents at Strange Chemistry I had already read and reviewed this book and thought it was a real fun read with a sassy lead character that was a nice break away from the usual MCs you read.  So off I went after work to have a hang around and natter with the Strange Chemistry family and Sean Cummings

Meeting in a nice hide away bar around the corner from the SC offices I was treated to some rather lovely food (mini burgers, chips, pasta and toasted pitta bread .... they know me SO well) and chat with Sean, Amanda from Strange Chemistry and some friendly blogger faces that had come along for the evening as well.

Sean was so nice to meet in person as I'd been chatting a little with him on the run up to his trip to the UK and giving some key hints at British life....like beware Primark if you're not prepared with your comfy foot wear or CHIPS ARE NOT CRISPS!  We chatted a little and I'd brought along some traditional English sweets from work and Sean nearly chipped his tooth thinking the Pear Drops were a chewy sweet.  That would have been embarrassing!

Sean Cummings, Amanda Rutter from Strange Chemistry and Jenny (Sean's agent)
Sean was introduced by his agent Jenny who gave a short speech about how she and Sean started working together even though she is UK based and Sean is in Canada and Amanda also said a few lovely words before Sean gave us a thank you for the support and a reading from Poltergeeks.  The SC folks had also bought Sean a few British goodies for his birthday/launch including a mug and London Sights Calendar (Sean asked his wife very promptly where they could put it up at home to which she replied 'Your office'.  hahaha.)

Sara Grant (author of Dark Parties) turned up for the evening which was lovely and such a shame I had to go before having a proper catch up and chat about her next book which sounds really good.  However all nights have to come to an end.  Thanks to Strange Chemistry for the invite and food and to Sean for the chat and signing my books which have taken pride of place on my book shelf.

Poltergeeks is available to buy now from here and bookshops now.
