20 Random Questions is a feature on Sisterspooky that will show you a different side to authors you may already know and introduce new ones. I ask 20 very Random Questions and they answer them. Simple as that. The idea was inspired from a mixture of things in my head and a random question asked by Jim over at YA Contemporary.
Today the lovely Karen Saunders is here answering my 20 Random Questions. Karen is the author of the charming Me, Suzy P and details are below Karen’s answers for where to find out more about the book
Hi Laura, thanks SO much for inviting me onto your blog. It’s *very* exciting to be here. So, you’ve got some questions for me, have you? Bring ’em on…
If you were ruler of the world what laws would you make?
The fun ones: Free chocolate Fridays, Turn off social media and discuss a book Wednesdays.
The ones which would stop me getting so irked on a daily basis: No spitting. No rudeness. No aggressive driving/tailgating.
The serious ones: No more poverty, cruelty or war and everyone is equal. Everybody must give something back to society and be nice to each other.
I think we can all agree the world would be a MUCH nicer place if I was in charge. When do I get to take over?
If you were a super hero what powers would you have? Limit to three powers!
Teleportation. It would make life SO much easier.
The power to write a bestseller everytime and not faff about during the writing process (I think this would be the hardest of the three to actually achieve. Particularly the faffing part).
What’s your favourite cheese and why?
Oooh, I loooooooove cheese! Wensleydale is my all-time favourite. I can’t have it in the house, because I can chomp through whole blocks in a single sitting.
Now I want cheese.
I love Wensleydale with blueberries, DELISH!
If you were an animal what would you be and why?
A Labrador with a family that loves them to death. There ain’t nothing happier than a well-loved Lab.
If you could ask your future self one question what would it be?
What are the lottery numbers for this coming weekend?
Have you ever entered a talent contest? What was your talent and did you win?
I entered a nobbly knees competition once. I did not win despite having *very* nobbly knees. I was robbed, I tell ya, robbed. I’ve not entered a proper talent competition before, but I have two ‘talents’. I can fluently mirror write, and I can fit my entire fist into my mouth. Oh yes. I got skillz.
Whats your favourite type of Pie?
My first thought was of the maths equation. Sigh. I am SO lame. You can tell I married a maths geek, can’t you?
I’m gluten free so I don’t really eat pie these days, I’m afraid.
If you could steal one thing without consequence what would it be and why?
A big house with a swimming pool for the summer, so all my mates can come and hang out with me. And I’d steal the sunshine from California to go with it.
Who’s your favourite Villain and why?
Voldemort, because he’s proper evil. Although Rebecca De Mornay playing Peyton Flanders in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle scared me to death when I watched that film as a teenager. They could have given her a *slightly* more scary name though.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten and what did you think of it?
I ate a bite of crocodile meat in Australia. It was chewy and I didn’t go back for more.
If you had a warning label, what would yours say and why?
CAUTION: Disaster zone approaching.
What’s your preferred playing piece in monopoly and why?
The boot. I just like it.
What was the last thing you ate?
A bowl of cherries. They were good.
Who would you want to be trapped on a desert island with? Pick no more than five people!
Bear Gryls (for survival skills)
Simon Amstell, who would make me laugh.
Jennifer Lawrence, because I think she’s ace.
Meg Cabot, because we could talk books.
Someone who knows how to build a boat.
What was the last thing you dressed up as for fancy dress and what was the occasion?
A pirate for a friend’s barbeque. I think it just involved a scarf on my head. I’m not very good at fancy dress.
What was your first job?
It was a holiday job while I was at university. I was a chambermaid/waitress at a local guest house. The woman who owned it was an amazing cook. I put on a lot of weight that summer, and discovered how filthy some people can make a hotel room. Urgh.
What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
My first presentation at a school to talk about my book, mic’ed up on on stage in front of 200 teens (boys and girls) was pretty terrifying.
Whats the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. Then you’ll be a mile away from them, and you’ll also have their shoes.
Also, live for today. Don’t save things for best. Life can change in the blink of an eye, so enjoy it while it’s good.
Wow, those were fantastic questions! Thanks so much again for inviting me onto your blog!
