20 Random Questions is a feature on Sisterspooky that will show you a different side to authors you may already know and introduce new ones. I ask 20 very Random Questions and they answer them. Simple as that. The idea was inspired from a mixture of things in my head and a random question asked by Jim over at YA Contemporary
Today is an extra special 20 Random Questions post because it is linked up with the Countdown to 5th June (the brain child project of Jim from YA Yeah Yeah, among other genius blogs). The blog/event is to celebrate the massive amount of authors that all happen to be published on June 5th! Weird, but cool. So I am so very pleased to welcome Holly Smale, author of the Geek Girl series, to the blog to answer the 20 Random Questions!
If you were ruler of the world what laws would you make?
Nobody gets down until everybody’s eaten.
Put that down.
If you were a super hero what powers would you have? Limit to three powers!
Flight. Weather control. Patience.
What’s your favourite cheese and why?
Blue. Objectively it’s disgusting but I can’t stay away from it. That’s real love.
If you were an animal what would you be and why?
A cat. I insist on doing what I like, when I like, how I like, until I want a cuddle or food and then I’ll become extraordinarily pliable.
If you could ask your future self one question what would it be?
Did we meet him?
What do you think the greatest invention has been?
The biro. Or the bra.
What’s your favourite type of Pie?
Butternut squash, spinach and goats cheese
If you could steal one thing without consequence what would it be and why?
A big house on a beautiful beach, because then I could live in a big house on a beautiful beach.
Who’s your favourite Villain and why?
Satan in Paradise Lost by John Milton. He’s verbally brilliant, lonely, persuasive, arrogant, vulnerable. I love him far more than I’m supposed to.
Do you have any superstitions and if so, what are they?
If I don’t focus very hard on keeping a plane up in the air with my mind, it’ll crash. It’s an immense responsibility.
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
What’s your preferred playing piece in monopoly and why?
The top hat. I always lose, so I may as well do it in style.
What was the last thing you ate?
Strawberry jelly with cherry yoghurt during a midnight snacking session.
Who would you want to be trapped on a desert island with? Pick no more than five people!
My sister, my parents, my grandfather and my future husband (I don’t know who he is yet, so it has to be a magic island).
What song would you say best sums you up?
Cherry-coloured Funk by Cocteau Twins. Lovely but all over the place and makes no sense.
What was your first job?
Organist for the Sunday Choir. They paid me £3. I was nine and a diva about it.
What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Jumped off the top of a mountain.
What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.
