My Top Wished For Books

I’m on a never-ending quest to reduce my TBR pile and have managed to get it down to two shelves on my bookcase.  It used to be the whole bookcase so this is a BIG improvement.  I try and have a small, immediate TBR pile of the books I’m going to be reading next and that way I can keep review books read on target and slot in older ones and get them off the shelf!

Some things do jump the queue but I try to stick with the order I’ve set up.  I love to plan and keep things in order.

However … I do have that dreaded wishlist that keeps tugging on my coat tails and saying “BUY ME, LAURA!”

So here is a selection of the Top Reads I’m desperate to own if I won the lottery and could buy them right now!

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

There’s a lot of buzz about the upcoming adaption of this book and I’ve seen most of the trailers now and can see why.  I hear about this book years ago and have really been on a mission to try and read more ‘classics’ rather than just new releases.  Sounds and looks fantastic and I hope to read it before I watch it on the screen.

Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse

I read a little about this book a while ago but it either past me by if I was offered a review copy or I didn’t hear about it but I love the Tokyo setting and the premise sounds great.  Very Lost In Translation meets fab YA.  YES PLEASE.

I’m Not With The Band by Sylvia Patterson

I saw Keris Stainton reading this last year and was completely sold on the title alone.  Sounds completely up my street with my band-loving past and I’d love to indulge in the nostalgia factor with a great read.

The Dark Tower: The Waste Lands by Stephen King

I’ve read the first two of this series and I’m trying to read as much of the rest as I can before the big screen adaption comes out.  Mainly incase of spoilers but also because it’s scarily addictive as a series.  If my pay check was bigger; I’d buy all the other books too.

Sweet Pea by C.J. Skuse

I’ve cheated a little here because I’ve already got this on preorder and should get it this month.  I’m one of THE biggest supporters of C.J. and her work and have been banging the drum for this beauty for a while.  Though, I’m not on the list for a review copy, I have thrown caution to the wind and ordered a lovely finished edition instead.

Truth or Dare by Non Pratt

Non writes good books – plain and simple.  She gets how teens think and speak and it’s a joy to read whatever she produces.  I can’t wait for this next instalment which I hear, from those lucky enough to have read it already, that it’s top notch stuff!

The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman

I’m a huge fan of His Dark Materials series and made a mini piglet squeal noise when I read about this being published.  Can’t wait.  Preordering soon because I won’t be able to wait for Christmas knowing it’s already out there.

  1. Son of Valhalla

Definitely looking forward to the Dark Tower adaptation, though I still haven’t gotten to the books themselves. There’s so many things to read and see right now.

  2. Lesley

The Handmaid’s Tale is a wonderful book – I was about 20 when I read it and it had a big effect on me.
I was also super excited when I heard about Book of Dust!
